Jazz Bass...... what's it for??

...The only reason I can think of for me to even try a Jazz is that I prefer the narrow neck to a P-bass from the quick (unplugged) play I have had of a couple. I have yet to play any through an amp yet.

If you have not encountered a Jazz Bass-style instrument that motivates expression in your music making/bass playing, you have either short-changed yourself by not finding a good example, or the instrument is not for you. It's fine. Be well and go in peace.

But someday, please play a really good vintage-style Jazz bass through a familiar bass rig. If it still leaves you cold, move on, it's OK. Really.

True. Heard them in 1970 at the Boston Tea Party. Ok, yes, sorta kinda loud. No, Blue Cheer's bassist was not as loud nor impressive in any way compared to Jeff Beck's Ron Wood, or Tull's Glenn Cornick who both appeared at the same venue within months of Blue Cheer.

Blue Cheer had big fake amps. So silly, even then. Vocals were weak, lead guitar work even more so...bass was somewhere down the list, IMHO.

My girl friend, C.J., was unimpressed, and she bought the tickets!!!
