Hello, and welcome to TalkBass. Not specific to Jazz Bass or any year of manufacture, there are almost countless threads here that discuss the comparison of maple and rosewood used as the fingerboard wood in a bass guitar:

Also, what kind of sound are you going for? Something a bit "warmer" or do you want a lot of "snap" to your sound. Personally, I'm still a bit of a skeptic when it comes to the idea of "tone-wood", but over the past couple of years, I've experienced instruments that have chipped away a little at that skepticism.
It depends. What color finish are you looking at? Personal aesthetic tastes can matter if it makes you want to pick an instrument up more.

Hey bro. Depends on what you like the look of more, and how much maintenance you are willing to put in. Maple fretboards are easier to clean, just use a damp cloth or lighter fluid. Rosewood is great too, but you will need to oil it 1-2 times a year and cleaning it is kinda difficult. When my rosewood fretboards get gunky, I take the neck off and use some #0000 steel wool to get the gunk off.
The string never touches the board, if played properly, on a fretted bass. If there is a difference in sound between a bass with a maple board and one with a rosewood board, it’s likely because of a variety reasons added up and not just because of the material of the board.
