Here is a link to an article, describing some of the more renowned Jazz Bassists, which some may enjoy. Of course, it’s just one Jazz-o-phile’s opinion. I’m sure he has a belly button, too. 
There are some notable (perhaps glaring) omissions, such as Slam Stewart; and the ordering thing is sure to offend some. For example, how on earth Chuck Israels “ranks” above Scottie LaFaro is just one rather glaring example of personal bias. LOL. Anyhow, probably best not to deconstruct the order, which is pretty meaningless. Otherwise a nice summary of the artists. Enjoy!!
