I have heard JBL's in Acoustics and they seem to work well.
Your mileage may vary.
Well, most of the Acoustics around were built in the 70's,
I don't think they made it much into the 80's, bankruptcy
and whatnot.
Vance Dickason mentions in his book that Thiele and Small
presented their papers that formed the basis for current
T/S design technology at a engineering conferences from
1982 onward.
I can't tell you what is in my 106 bottom, I have never had to
open the bugger, it has resisted all my attempts to destroy
it with feedback, unplugging the bass, turning the rig on with
the volume at 11, etc., for many years now.
As far as the rice grinder mentality goes, my little Eminence
loaded rig would be allright for small stuff, but if I am going to
the dragstrip, there ain't no substitute for indestructible V8
power.
But my back is better than others, as I let the drummer and
guitar player carry it, they don't know any better.
Work smart, not hard ...
