BS&T we’re definitely on “underground” FM in Chicago as well. But I think I recall that several tunes (def Spinning Wheel) made the pop charts as well. Am I right?
In any case, Fielder was a big influence in the day.

Yes but that was after Al Kooper had left (fired?) the band, they had a bunch of big hits with David Clayton-Thomas on vocals. Al put the band together and I think they fired him, he only did one album with them. Al wrote a very good book that explains the whole thing

Trombone player Dave Bargeron, who played in Blood Sweat and Tears was a bass player himself.

He was also part of a brass band in New York that also included legendary tuba man Howard Johnson.
