I've had an ongoing dispute with the IRS for several years. I acknowledge that I made a mistake, but we disagreed on the extent of the mistake. The IRS claimed I owed them over $20,000! Needless to say, my opinion was different.

I hadn't heard anything for several months, since I last expressed my position on the matter. Frankly, I have been a little concerned lately, fully expecting the next communication to be something on the order of bank accounts seized, garnishments, etc.

Today, what do you suppose the mail brings? A check from the US Treasury! Only about $270, with no explanation that made any sense. However, in separate envelopes, were 2 letters from the IRS describing how I was being charged a small amount for one year, & reversing a refund seized in another year, to arrive at the net in my favor!
