I just discovered John Heard for myself. I don't know how I missed this guy. Incredible feel, sound and energy. Any recommendations of recordings for those who already know his playing?

Great player, and still going strong!
He plays just up the street from here at Charlie O's two or three nights a week. Cool little venue, and John always delivers. That reminds me, I haven't been down there for a few months - it's about time...
There's some great John Heard tracks on Art Pepper's "Hollywood Allstars" box-set. This set is a must-have; it has many tracks with Bob Magnusson on bass too.
Jennifer Leitham also plays at Charlie O's regularly - she's a great player too. Man, there's so many great bass players here in L.A. - I wish I had the time and money to get out and see them more often.
