Several weeks ago we played in a nursing home for an old bass player who had been in a Seattle band, in the 1940's called the Commidors. A few days later he died, and I'v been asked to play his bass at the memorial service. The bass was purchased in Oct, 1938 from HOPPER-KELLY, CO, and the lable (in English) says John Juzek Violins Z Prague, made in Czechoslovokia. I don't know if he bought the bass new or not. Since I've been told that Juzek didn't make basses, who might have been doing so under this name? The family and I are very curious and would like any insights you might have.
