John myung’s 3 pickup stingray

I had the idea to make a replica of the stingray john myung played in the early dream theater days (majesty) but to be honest, I’m still a beginner at wiring. Can anyone help me figure out how to wire this thing? From what I can tell there are 3 pickups wired to a 3 way toggle switch and a 2 way mini toggle switch, with 3 knobs and two output jacks (one of them being an xlr if I’m not mistaken)

Well, you have a MM H p'up on the bottom, that's clear, and then a P split p'up in the middle, and on top that's just a double set of single coils, not a MM H. Several bassists from that period were doing that with the top p'up, on all kinds of basses, just to add to the bottom. You'd have to be creative and experiment as to the best way to wire something like this.

I'd guess that there would be so much magnet tug on the strings from 6 poles per string, how could the strings even vibrate? WOW!

There are 3 - 4 pickup guitars like Les Pauls and strats being strung with light .008 gauge E-strings and they sustain just fine. I do think more than 2 is overkill on bass

Topic adjacent… in the various Dream Theatre documentaries (there’s a good one recently (ish)) John always comes across as a throughly decent fella. Apart from being an amazing player, I often wondered how often he caught his hair/got it snagged on the bass.
