I am having Yamaha build me a new, semi-hollow (with “F holes” like a jazz guitar) electric bass.
He tore the electric up when he did a benefit for chick at the Blue Note for chick's 70th birthday. I know what you are saying but I heard him play the electric flawlessly. Maybe he wasn't on that day when you saw him. Great person to and always plays with great players which is nice when seeing him. Upright or electric. I love the sound of his new signature bass.I saw him play at a *very* intimate show in La Jolla years ago - like 30 folks were there in this nightclub. He was the least interesting part of his act. Tony Acuna and a bunch of other top-notch dudes behind him more or less overshadowed him. Frankly, I prefer his upright playing to his electric. He tears it up on DB.

Have you seen John Patitucci's new electric bass? Do you have any information about it?
Was that the show at Humphries where Alex Acuna sight read the set off a music stand? I was there with my brother Dan, who's also on TB. Dang, that's a small world.I saw him play at a *very* intimate show in La Jolla years ago - like 30 folks were there in this nightclub. He was the least interesting part of his act. I never saw anybody play there, but I remember Alarios. They had a lot of cool stuff played there. You must remember the Bacchanal up in...Kearny Mesa? I saw a ton of bands there. That place will be missed!Nope - Alarios (I think that place is closed now). I think the humphries gig was the following year. But yes - small freakin' world.
Are they going into production? PLEASE tell me they are!!! I've been wanting an archt. jazz bass since the early 90's...this is perfect.Pat Campolattano at Yamaha in California made the bass. I'm proud to say that the bass uses Aguilar DCB pickups and OBP-3 preamp.
