John Prine: R.I.P. due to COVID19

I started a thread in Miscellaneous about his passing, but record producer Hal Willner’s last communication was a shout out to Prine...Invalid Link Removed
This disease is wiping out the older generations of musicians, or at least a huge portion of them.

Man, I'm really feeling this loss. One of my all time favorites and inspirations. He could make me laugh and cry like no one else.

I think a "huge portion" of the older musicians is a grossly inaccurate statement much like those that the media puts put that helps perpetuate the cycle of fear. Anyway, carry on with your tribute but maybe think about your words more carefully.Invalid Link Removed

Yes, I know this is a little off topic, but I know that there are some of us older guys here who are big John Prine fans so cut us a little slack please.
I heard of his passing today, a victim of Covid-19 after surviving 2 bouts with cancer. I had the pleasure to work with many times him (mixing FOH primarily) over the years, from the mid 1980's until about 6 or 7 years ago. His songs have been covered by a who's who of artists, yet he remained a songwriter's musician in spite of their popularity. His engaging personality and wry sense of humor was always a welcome change from the stiffness of some of the acts I worked with.
For those unfamiliar with his work, here are a couple of tunes that you might enjoy. They are also songs that many of you (including myself) have played.

I'm very sad to hear this. He was a wonderful performer and songwriter, and I had the pleasure to see him several times. The best was at Chicago Symphony Center somewhere around 2001 or 2002. Iris Dement opened and then joined him for several duets.
