Either that or Jon really likes that T shirt. I saw them for the third time just before Xmas, and the guitarist in my band managed to hand Ian a copy of our EP. They haven't contacted us asking us to support them on their next tour yet, though. Their letter must have got lost in the post, yeah?

Yes Fuzz, thats the same gig, i missed the one in december though.

One of the support bands in december, kill goliath are friends of mine and had to call in a favour or two to get the gig, said the guys were super nice though.

After searching around for some definitive info on Jon, I thought I'd pass along to all who might be interested that you can stream their new album, "Asymmetry" for free for the next four days. (I am not connected with the band in any way; just a fan.)

A.M. War, We Are, The Refusal, Sky Machine, The Last Few & Alpha-Omega are all stand-out tracks. Be open-minded; this is a very different sonic endeavor than Sound Awake. It's a lot less polished, which fits the style a bit more than the same slick production of Sound Awake would have with these tunes.

More 'delish' bass tones throughout.

I'm just enjoying this and wanted to share the love. Cheers.

I'm resurrecting this thread because I have a question and want to bring attention to this really awesome band.

On Sound Awake, the first track Simple Boy opens with a monster bass line. My ear hears the tone of a Thumb bass, but I'm not sure which of the distortions Jon is using. Does anyone have info or an ear good enough to pick out which OD\Distortion he is using?

Did those pedals even exist back then? I thought they were only a couple of years old, and even so I thought he only recently started using them

Your dirt tones have been much the discussion of many an Internet forum. Care to share how you get those massive drive sounds on tracks like ‘Simple Boy’ and ‘Goliath’?

"What I was really trying to do was just not treat every song with a blanket distortion/overdrive sound and really try to get each song to have a characteristic sound, so we just tried different processes to get the sounds that ended up on each track. With those two in particular, we used completely different setups.

Simple Boy was the combination of a dirty amp sound mixed with a dirty DI sound via a plugin. Goliath was a combination of two different distortion amp sounds using the same distortion pedal combination. That came from the Blackstone Mosfet Overdrive combined with the Boss ODB-3 Bass Overdrive. That’s basically it but there were other tweaks from compressors and other outboard gear as well."

Anyone have new info on what he is using on asymmetry album? Tons of sweet tones and such a different record. Its met with mixed reviews but I love a band brave enough to not follow in their OWN footsteps. Plus I dig the album. Also, on naschash is that a fuzzed out bass?? If so....WOW

Ive been saying that for awhile now! I told my lady(who is also a huuuuuge fan) that I dont care if we have to drive 5 states over we are not missing it.

EDIT: im also a fanatic for DLC. their newest, the catalyst fire is an amazing album in my book.

Have you seen DLC live yet? I got to see them in minneapolis and meet the band. Super nice guys.

I've also met a couple of the Vool guys before a show. It's still weird
to me that they play in front of 50K+ people in Australia, and play craphole dive bars here.
