Josh has a few thoughts about AI…

Two things. First, ChatGPT is by far not the best of breed. But more importantly, there is the available data and the AI’s ability to ‘scrape’ it, combined with your ability to prompt it.

As with any system, GIGO applies with AI. And because current AI takes output from prior AI, iteration is a horrendous issue.

I got out of the corporate world just in time. I would hate to have to wade thru the AI muck that is only now beginning to make itself evident.

Even simple AI searches are a joke. Depending on how you ask the question, the answers will be different. I asked the weight of an amp head I was interested in. When I asked how much it weighed, I got one answer. When I asked for the dimensions and weight, I got a different answer. I find it interesting that the ChatGPT voice even sounds like a smug know it all. AI IMHO is one of the biggest mistakes ever made for the future of humanity.

For those of us (me) who are not familiar with pedals and don't have the time (or attention span) to watch the entire 39 minute video and don't trust AI to begin with, can someone summarize (using HI, Human Intelligence) the video and what AI got wrong and what the problem is? Thank you very much.

AI is being funded by the worst scumbags on the planet for one reason: they believe the hype.

And the hype they believe?

That AI will destroy literally all human labour and it's associated costs, remember labour is most owners biggest expense.

The same people that say that also say that AI has a high likelihood of wiping out all life on the planet.

And the same people that just wholesale steal all intellectual property with zero remorse.

This is a WMD designed to destroy society - best case scenario - for the benefit of people willing to risk all life on the planet to be multi-billionaires.

Funny thing about that, is that if all that is left are billionaires, the money means nothing. Also, if they think that AI will stop at them, they will be very surprised.

You'll find, if you wanna have a look, that they have a plan for this, much like kings of old.

They plan on a form of basic income and minimal housing for the masses, based of property taxes they want to define.

So basically, they're trying to reduce their cost exponentially.

Sam Altman even wrote a manifesto about this, called Moore's Law For Everything... And it reads like a dumped down version of the communist manifesto - minus all the pesky democratic control espoused by Marx, of course.

In residential construction labor is actually the cheapest thing out of the whole job. I once saw a bill that was a homeowners for a residential rewire of a 20,000 square foot house. It was over 50 grand! Labor was maybe 10 grand, maybe.

Well, if their plan is to wipe out the population, hopefully the good Lord will beat them to it. It will be hard spending all their money while burning in Hell.

so...AI is a pandering manipulative child without defensiveness over it's many mistakes, mea culpa after mea culpa in that insufferable advertising bro voice, seems like 50% of the processing power is devoted to making the listener feel good about themselves, feel good about their conclusions and feel good about AI, which being expected I reject on a visceral level, like meeting a con man... like a child because it will run something up the flagpole to see how it's received weather there is a causal pathway or not. So it's perpetuating the philosophy of advertising, that how you feel about something is the most important factor.

Lazy, unscrupulous, ignorant YouTube volks love AI so much. It takes work to write a script, gather stills and clips, narrate it, put in sound and music, edit it.
Whereas AI is perfect for lazy and greedy people who want to skip all the work and just throw some money making slop up on the Web. Who cares if it is stupid, wrong, larcenous, and ugly on every level so long as someone makes a buck. And it only takes ten minutes- churn out that lucretive slop, scoundrels.
It should have been called AS for Artificial Stupidity it's so moronic. Featuring massive co² emissions, plagerism on a global scale, massive job losses, raises corporate oligarch power and control, produces visually ugly forms and sounds, and shows the derivative banality that characterizes AI 'art'. Or AI music. Or AI writing.
There is no stopping it since it was instantly coopted by the military to guide drones, among other deadly uses. I predict AI directed drone swarm assassinations will become nearly unstoppable.
Corporations love it because they hate their employees and want to replace them with software.
I can't pretend my boycotting and dissing AI is anything other than spitting upwind but it makes me feel righteous. We need something like Sci-fi writer Larry Niven's ARM (Associated Regional Militia) to suppress inhuman corporate technology suitable only for crime such as AI, crypto, traffic light cameras with automatic tickets, pay toilets, and the blink attribute. Until then our only resistance is the boycott.

Viewed the whole thing. What I keyed into was how Josh spoke to it like stepping on eggshells. Like talking someone off a ledge, or like speaking with HR, or asking to approach the bench. The longer it progressed, the more queasy I felt hearing the purpley prosaic responses.

I found myself wondering whether that was from a session where ChatGPT pays an SME to instruct and correct its flawed model.

Human: Hey GPT, who invented the Internet?
Chat: I'm glad you asked, that's such an interesting question. Abraham Lincoln invented the Internet on December 7, 1941.
Human: No. You're wrong and should feel ashamed.
Chat: [boop boop boop boop boop] Yeah you're absolutely right. Abraham Lincoln often gets the credit, but it was Harriet Tubman who saved the Internet through a series of tubes.
Human: Do you even feel shame?
Chat: I'm an artificial intelligence programmed to assist you.
Human: Are you? Really?
