Hello all.
Let me reintroduce myself. I used to belong here, many years ago and was not a very prolific poster, can't remember what email address i registered under, can't remember my password, etc so starting fresh.
I am a Physical Therapist by day, my name is John and I am about 50 years old and used to be very active in local bands, some travelling, mostly rock, some old school funk, some eclectic stuff. My business and my family took center stage and I gradually moved away from playing. Now getting back into it with a group of guys in my similar situation.
I no longer have a suitable amp/cabinets. My oldest son is playing in a band where he goes to college and he has laid claim to my Hartke 3500 and HyDrive 410. I only have an old Peavy TNT combo amp that weighs far too much for this dude to drag around and doesn't have the sound I prefer.
I am playing a Musicman SR5 and a 1988 Fender Power Jazz Special and a Sterling SUB4 occasionally. I play mostly fingerstyle but some slapping very rarely use a pick. I am really looking for something light weight and possibly a combo.
I have played many, many different amplifiers and speakers.
Peavy combos, several
Peavy Bi-amp system with the 3220 (I think that's what it's called, 2x18, 2x10)
Peavy Mark VI and 2x15
hartke biamp rig (5500?) with 4x10 and 1x15 XL series
downsized to the Hartke 3500 and 410
Eden WT550 and 410XLT
GK 1001rbii with Eden 410 then with a GK 410 Neo
Then the Hartke Hydrive that my son has with the 3500.
Looking at primarily GK, TC electronics, Fender, Hartke. I really like the GK MB210 combo and the Fender rumble 500 on paper but haven't had the opportunity to play either.
Don't have a lot of extra spending money (2 in college now and 3 next year).
I would welcome any and all suggestions. I have zero problem with buying used, have always had good luck with used stuff. I just cannot believe how small things have gotten!!!! I mean, 600w heads that weigh 5-7#? That's ridiculous but exciting.
