Just Acquired this Tobias... Made on Cahuenga Blvd.

Hi all,

I just acquired this Tobias Basic II... Made on Cahuenga Blvd. in Hollywood. Serial #314. Apparently all original.



Any info or comment would be appreciated!

Very nice. I love more subtle body woods like that. This proves perfectly that a cool bass doesn't have to be made of AAAAAAAAA quilted-flameo-supremo-bucko maple.

Really nice and very clean. Looks like it's been well taken care of. Did not expect to see the serial number in that particular location; I'm used to seeing them on the back of the headstock, but I'm not sure I've ever seen such an early Tobias before.

Koa, maple and wenge... I have never seen a serial number there either. I was told this was made for one of the early Tobias employees.

I bought it from a friend... I asked him why he was selling it and he said that he had several other Tobias basses.

What year would that have been made?

I have a '94 Classic 5 Walnut/Purpleheart. I saw an '78 with exact wood specs (and possibly PU/preamp) to mine once online. Never seen those specs again.
