Just ditched FF for Chrome

So, since Iron won't work on my older Mac, I D/L'ed Opera to try it out... same thing! It didn't fail totally the way Iron did, but it barely works. So I guess I'm stuck with FF on this machine. The funny thing is, aside from occupying a good chunk of my CPU, FF doesn't give me any of the problems the rest of you describe! There has never been any problem with download locations, freezes, "leaks", or any other buggy behavior. Oh well--I'll try Iron and Opera on my PC.

I use it all the time to queue up files I want to download, or direction maps to somewhere I need to go later after I left the house. Stuff like that.

CtP is not a ground breaking application to revolutionize mobile computing. It looks to me like someone came up with a good idea to make web surfing on your Android device easier.

Oh I wasn't really criticizing the app, it sounds like a much better app than my Zippo lighter app :D
I was only commenting that firefox has a similar (IMO better in some ways at least) app.

I used a plugin called AFOM, it helped a little, but somehow after around 4-5 hours the physical memory in my laptop was at +82% and Windows whined about closing programs.

I've now been running Chrome all day and the physical memory has stayed at 57-58% all day.

I am still really digging the Iron browser, thanks again for the tip Eric.

I only came across one website so far that didn't like Iron. It was one of those speed test sites to measure your internet speed. No biggie, there are a bazillion others to pick from that worked fine with Iron.

I wish they would make the auto scroll smoother. I use that quite a bit.

I've been a firefox guy since I've known it existed but Chrome/Iron may be worth some thought beyond being my primary backup browser. Firefox has been crashing A LOT for me lately and I'm getting frequent slowdowns that pretty much clear up after a close and restart it. Could these issues be caused by the memory leaks?

Chrome looks cool so that's one requirement fulfilled, now if it has the extensions that I want then we're in business :).

I would suggest SRWare Iron over Chrome. They are from the same code, but Iron removes all of Google's big-brother crap, which has been well documented. Regarding the privacy issues, there's a Chrome / Iron comparison Invalid Link Removed.

I took some suggestions here and tried Iron for a few days. Only two problems that I didn't care for.
1) I couldn't figure out a way to set up an ad block.

2) I found a link on how to install a bookmark button but I couldn't move it to the left of the address bar. It was driving me nuts. Still can't. I'm a robot I guess. I keep running the cursor to the left. Any ideas?

I'm back on FF for now because of that.

For #1, I installed the Chrome Ad Blocker. Works fine.

As for #2, mine is on the left and I was even able to rename it. I'll figure out what I did and get back to you.

Yeah, I can get the button on the bookmark bar but I found the way to add a button to the bar above the bookmark bar. Then I could get rid of the bookmark bar and have a bigger screen. The only catch is, it's on the right of the address bar.

I didn't know there was a UI for AdBlock. Mine runs incognito. I don't do anything to configure or set it up.

What I would like is an easier to way to switch between themes. It looks now like you have to go to the themes page and DL one when you want to change it. Why doesn't it save the ones I already DLed and let me switch between them?

Oh....the "IE Tab" extension is most awesome for if you stumble across a page not compatible with Iron. With that extension, you don't need to go open IE separately, Iron does it for you and leaves you in the comfy Iron UI.
