Just found another Band using our band name...

I have a similar issue. Noticed today that there seem to be a Canadian band with the same name as my own a couple albums released on CDBaby. Checked the USPTO website and the name looks to be available in the US as a trademark. Some friends and I recently joined the band though the name has been around for a few years through our singer and a guitarist that he played with for a while.

Any insight here?

According to your FB page, the band was formed in 2009. The Canadian Daddy Long Legs have been around since 2001. I'd suggest changing your name.

Maybe your second set could provide an alternative view and have songs about officers killed in the line of duty, the effects that made on their families and the lives they saved.
I am not an officer....and yes there are bad ones....but still?

I would not want their job and feel blessed that there are those willing to put their life on the line for a stranger like me

The trademark of the name is registered to us. The band leader didnt want to do anything about it because " We have the trademark" so that makes us safe in his eyes. I just stopped caring I figure if someone is looking for them they might accidentally find us instead ha.

And about the whole police brutality thing most songs are about the bad cops since the stories of police brutalitiy never stop. But in the liner notes of every cd we do it always says " If you are fortunate enough to encounter a good cop be thankful and respectful." There really needs to be more good cops out there Because the bad ones really do seem to out number the good ones. We also threw in a dropkick murphys cover about a good cop that we sometimes play.

I once played in a band called "The Originals", but we had to change our name because we came across another band on the other side of town called "The Originals". So we changed our name to "The New Originals". As it turned out, the other band decided to change there name "The Regulars". We considered changing our name back to "The Originals" but then thought, what's the point?
