Just got a mystery bass

Dunno what it is, but you can't go wrong by much if it only cost a Jackson.
It'd be a good instrument to practice doing setups (neck and action adjustments) on, if nothing else.

I was sort of thinking Jackson or Charvel knock off as well. I mostly bought it just for something to strip down and try to fix up. It'll be my first time restoring a guitar/bass, so I won't be too disappointed if it doesn't turn out great. Besides, I only payed $20, so there's not much to lose.

The headstock looks like an old 80's memphis my friend had , tell it fell an the neck split in two, then we just smashed the rest of it.

I also have a couple no-name brand pointy basses, and that headstock is not even close to them. Like the others said, for the cost --- if it plays, rock it

Probably a Bentley Series 10. Could be a circa late 80's Synsonics.

That numbering sequence reminds me of the numbers used by Kaman/Ovation/GTX.

I have a pix of a left-handed head from that factory - so it might indicate the pointy-headed
designs that came out of there in the 1980-1990s, and mine is a 1988 model from that cue.
BTW: that above ↑ is FT for something Squier/Fender/Ibanez.

that bass looks like one of those cheap knock-offs from the '80s... What we used to call a "Hoo Flung Poo" piece of gear...
The action isn't as bad as it looks. Not sure how well you can see it in the pics, but the nut is kind of off to the right, so it gives the illusion of really high action.
There was a time back in the mid-'80s when Epiphone ("by Gibson") made a bass with a very similar headstock. But the brand name was etched right onto it and it had a pickguard and black hardware, so that's probably not it.
