Double Bass Just got an Fdeck!!!

I'm quite sure the Fdeck has a 10 Mohm input impedance. If there was a substantial difference across the pre- amps you tested, then that could certainly explain the differences you heard. That's because they would load the pickup differently. If we're talking about the usual DB pickups, then going above 10 Mohm will not change things much and may have drawbacks.

+1 You wouldn't want to load a DB pickup higher than 10 Meg Ohms. The Headway EDB-2 (EDB-1) has a 20 Meg Ohm setting that's used for Violin not Double Bass. I experimented with that setting and found that it thinned out the sound.

I just copied the info from Francis' website all three models of the F Deck are set at 10 Meg Ohm. I went back and checked just to be certain.

Although 10 Meg Ohms will certainly do the trick, sometimes as little as 1 Meg Ohm sounds just fine. So you have to experiment with it a little. Since the Headway EDB-2 has a variable input impedance of either 1, 5, or 20 Meg Ohms. I'm able to try different settings with different pickups.

Just bumping this old thread - I finally got one - I won it at our Pgh G2G raffle - how sweet it that?!

I believe it’s a series I with just the HPF dial and the phase switch.

I tried it on my first gig last night - just a cocktail & dinner jazz duo with baby grand piano in a somewhat boomy room. I was easily able to dial out the lowest frequencies and still keep a solid low end. I’m using a MarkBass CMD 121P combo.

The verdict: I like it!

Didn't exchange a single communication, it came relatively quickly considering it was coming internationally.

That's how it works! However, I can see that it's pretty puzzling, and I'll take a look at my website to see if I can make it better. The good news is that PayPal actually makes all of this work really smoothly, especially considering that you're dealing with a part time home business.
