Just Got Ripped Off on eBay

The weird thing is that the cs sticker looks like its underneath the finish. I can't pull it up with my fingernail. I wonder if its some kind of decal that adheres when heat is applied. Either that or the back of the neck has been oversprayed.

I think you answered your question towards the end of your statement. A lot of folks are skilled in the refinishing and repair business, let alone doing custom work.
The only question to remain is if Fender ever allowed it's Japanese manufacturing contractors to run a custom shop of their own for domestic production under the providence of Fender of Japan, and use the Custom Shop logo. I find that notion highly unlikely as finding rocking horse manure; given the recent anal retentive zeal for putting Fender's history under a microscope over the past couple of decades. That has been a wonderful thing indeed. I could be wrong and I'm open to extraordinary claims when extraordinary evidence can be produced. The seller has some explaining to do, and he might also be a victim of deceit as well when he got the instrument.

Having just taken a peak at his feedback, I'm wondering if it's an honest mistake on his part. I don't doubt that it's not as advertised or that you need to get some sort of restitution, but he's over 100 sales with 100% feedback. It doesn't feel like he's in the business of ripping people off.

Anyway, good luck.

True, he may not have known...

Yeah I agree, but he waited a whole week to ship to me until the money transferred into his bank account, and also just so happened not to mention or photograph the cij sticker. I like to give everyone the benefit of the doubt but he still hasn't written me back and before he was always punctual in his responses.

File the case ASAP. If no response after a day or two, then escalate it.

Ok, update. The guy wrote me back and said he was at a loss for words. The store he bought it from told him it was a custom shop bass and he wanted to resolve the issue.
I wrote him back and asked him which option he wanted, a return or partial refund. I'm now just waiting to hear back.
So at least he is not denying the fault.
Stay tuned....

I always wait until PayPal clears before I ship. As a buyer I expect it and that's usually the way it goes. I cut way back on selling on eBay because it just attracts a lot of deadbeats. The seller is in a very vulnerable position on eBay.

Hopefully you can return it to him and he can return it to the store he bought it from.
