I wish you the best of luck and a speedy recovery.
I had c4 to c7 vertebrae partially removed and then reinstalled to have an astrocytoma tumor removed from inside the spinal cord. The tumor and it’s removal caused a permanent loss of sensation but no loss of motor control.
10 years later, I broke c1 and c2 doing a very bad dismount off a mountain bike. 100% unrelated to the previous surgery. I spent 4 months in a halo and 6 more months in a hard collar. As a result, I have a limited range of neck twisting motion. But thankfully, no spinal cord damage. Lucky, lucky, lucky...That was 17 years ago.
I play at least one of my basses every day. I still ride my bike. I still do anything and everything I used to do, albeit slower...(the neck doesn’t slow me down, it’s just that I am getting on in years.
I’m inspired by people with much more severe physical limitations. As long as your doctor doesn’t restrict you from certain activities and even if he/she does, push the limits. Just find a way to do what you want to.
Even though I don’t know you, you’re my brother and I wish only the best for you. Keep on jammin’......
