I've just joined. I'm sure I'll learn a lot here from previous posts and through links.
I'm in my mid-sixties and up until 20 years ago, I played folk/classical guitar. Then I took up Tenor sax and played first in a 'Wind orchestra' and for the past 15 years in Bigbands. Guitar practice gradually fell by the wayside.
I got invivited to a rehearsal of a cabaret group (sketches and songs with a few musicians) and I sat in on a cajon drum box. It was clear that sax didn't fit the music style and guitar did'nt add much to the keyboard. Someone suggested I try out bass guitar and brought one along.
I'd kind of worked out beforehand that playing bass guitar is a completely different role and technique.
Yesterday was the very first time I'd had a bass guitar in my hands. More difficult to play but I enjoyed it! Looking forward to practicing and learning more.
