hi, just joined the community.

i'm not sure how all this works but i'll get the hang of it.

i live in england and have been playing the bass for 20 years, that makes me feel old just writing it.

looking forward to discussions, trading etc.

Welcome from an ex Brit now residing in Toronto Ontario Canada. I bought my first bass in 1962 when I was 16. A VOX Clubman II. Cost twenty five quid and I worked that summer at a potato farm to pay for it. Supplied potatoes to make Golden Wonder crisps.

That makes me working on my fiftieth year as a bass player.

Not to mention convincing yourself you can't do physical things you used to! (16ths can be a bear to old hands as an example.)

thanks for all the reply's guys. told you i keep odd hours, this is the first chance i've had to get on the forum again.

i've been to toronto bassman paul, loved the place. i went i 1996 for a couple of weeks.

i bought my son, isaac, a short scale flea bass for his 7th birthday last october. he had lesson number 1 on the day and he's doing really well.

those flea basses are great to start on, they don't feel cheap even though they're made in china and are really playable.

his teacher and i both agree they're well worth the money. isaac isn't far off being able to play my P bass, the neck is fine but the body is way too big.

now that'll make you feel old !!!

My Precision was borned in 1963. We met for the first time in Hessy's store in Liverpool where I saw a friend buy it. A few months later, in January 1968, it was mine for 51 pounds. I met my wife on June 6th at a gig an NALGO rugby club and 43 years later I still have them both! I don't play it much nowadays as I'm hooked on my sixes like the one, Pippin, in my avatar.

Never been to England meself...

Imported a car from Hinckley, Leicester though and have some fine basses from Rob Green and Pete Stevens. Oh yeah, and that guitar group that was on its way out...what were they called?....The Beatles...that's right. They're pretty good too!

my p bass is only five years old but i doubt i'll be parted from it until i give it to son #1 when i feel he deserves it.

the wife, on the other hand, is a different matter.
