Just Ordered My Rondo

Having started playing bass back in the mid-80s as a teenager, it's a strange feeling playing a Rondo and longing for a "real" Squier instead, but that's where I find myself at the moment. $500+ for a Standard Fender MIM seems outlandish to me, considering that I would almost have to replace the bridge. The Rondo is not really acceptable for my taste.

Perhaps the Classic Vibe Squier is just what the doctor ordered for me. That HiMass bridge sounds good to me and feels so delightfully solid, very much like a Gotoh 201. And I'm positively in love with the Sonic Blue finish on the P version. I think that's my next bass.

If Squier or Fender made a Surf Green bass with a maple fingerboard, it would be the perfect companion for me, especially if it had (faux) mother-of-pearl binding and block inlays!

Interesting. I've been playing American Fender Precisions since the early 80's (my first was a used 78 P) and find the SX P bass neck to be EXTREEMLY comfy. Actaully, I thought the feel of the new Classic Vibes Squiers was also good (too bad it had some high fret issues) was farily similar to the SX. Wouldn't be surprised if they were made in the same factory in China.
Have to agree that the bridge on the Squier CV is very nice for that price point. I find the basswood body to be a deal breaker for me personaly on the Squiers. Rather go with the SX and alder like a propper Fender.
