Just played a Rick 4003

Just played a Rick 4003 (finally found one)...
Man, did that thing sound nice!
The pickup cover would have to go...
But otherwise it was great. Was a lot lighter than I expected...

Went back home and played my tricked out MIA Jazz and SR5... and well... as much as I've been wanting a Rick (based on sound), I wouldn't want to part with either to get the $1600 Jetglo 4003. Don't have the spare cash to drop $1600 at the moment...

I'm suffering some serious GAS!
The 4003 would be the perfect addition...
All three black... and each having a unique character well suited to rock.
Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

i bought mine used off a friend of a friend for an incredible price. it's an all original '79 4001. if i told you what i payed for it, you'd be worse than jealous.

I was hooked after hearing Chris Squires tone on Yes "Drama". I sold everything (almost) that I owned back in college to get my 4003. I bought it used in 1991, and it shows it's age (1982), but there is no replacing a Rick, IMO. I am pretty certain I couldn't play anything else....

You know, there are a ton of basses that nail down a Fender P or J sound that don't say Fender on them. Has anyone ever found anything that can nail that "RICK WITH A PIC" sound that isn't a RIC?

You know, I saw someone (not me) selling a black 4003 in the classifieds for 1100 or 1200. That's a damn good price, I'd jump on it if I didn't already have one.

I played an early '80s 4001 and Guitar Center and I loved the tone of it played pickstyle, below where the pickup cover is. Great rock tone. The slightly shorter scale was fun to play on too.
