Just played my first big show! Loved it!

I had a rockin' day!! i am pretty pumped I must say. First, it is a holiday here today. We got to play on this stage for 2 hours!

This was the view from the stage.

And we absolutely killed it! I'd been nervous because we had not been able to rehearse with the whole band for some time for reasons I already mentioned. Well we pulled it together really, really well. Yes, a few bumps in the road but generally a very solid performance. Not to mention, the venue has changed from year past. A lot more room for people to watch. I was nervous but thrilled at the size of audience.

Also, having 8-12,000 watts of full PA support was fantastic. Our band has never sounded so good! My bass was rocking the place out something fierce too (the sound man is a bassist so I didn't have to worry about cutting through the mix lol!) it sounded so good to me today. What a great time. We really hope we get invited to this one again next year!

Anyway, just had to talk about it as it was such a thrill.

My gear today was;
Rickenbacker 4003 MapleGlo (late 2011)
Ampeg SVT6-pro
1 Mesa 410 Powerhouse cab (chose to leave the 2nd cab home as we had full PA support)

I was too busy playing to get any good pics but there was indeed lots of CAS there. I did get some video that I need to process so I can post it.

This was the best day I have ever had as a bassist. We have another headline show in 3 weeks too.

Playing to a huge group is awesome. Grats! It sure beats playing to a bar with three people. Easier to handle a big crowd too for those of us who are a bit shy. You'd think that the opposite would be true. Nope!

It's quite addictive. Glad you enjoyed it. I've done a 70,000, an 8000 people gig and maybe a dozen 1000-2000 people gigs and loved every one of them. I'd sure like to do more.

This is TB, couldn't you post just a little gripe about the sound guy or having to use a DI instead of a mic on your cab or not cutting through the mix?

Seriously though, congratulations on a great gig. It's incredibly gratifying but even more so when you don't have to schlep the PA gear!

Sound guy was also a bassist. I was cutting through no problem! And he took the DI post-pre-amp on my rig so my tone was going to the FOH.

Sometimes you just get really lucky I guess! :lol:
