Totally agree on connection method determining allowable loads Passinwind. At the start of the post though it seemed to me that we were getting hung up on the series versus parallel speaker wiring thing determining the connection mode.So the connection method does in fact determine the allowable loads in this case. And to those contemplating trying that parallel mono mode wiring on other amps: do not try this at home, with very few exceptions. Smoke is only magic as long as it stays in the box.

I have a Crown Power Base 1 power amp and will be running it in 'parallel mono' mode into two 8 ohm speakers, wired in series.
Doesn't series mode result in additive impedance, so that two 8 ohm speakers in series would be a 16 ohm load? I think parallel wiring of the speakers would result in 4 ohm.
Best to read the manual as "Parallel Mono" is not often encountered around here.

"Daisy chain" WRT electricity is a slang term with no fixed or standard definition so there's no way to be sure your audience will interpret it as you do. "Series" and "parallel" are defined.
Read the crown manual above for Crown Power Base 1.I disagree. It’s how I run my bass amp. Power amp inputs paralleled and driven by one mono signal from my pre-amp. One cabinet on each channel.

It is not what your are describing
The output of the amps is actually wired in parallel, not just the inputs.
I prefer the current state of parallel operation.Not with all crowns. It's rare in older amps.
But it will be popular going forward in new amps. Everybody wants low impedance stability and high power.
