Justifying a Jerry Jones Longhorn

Go get it! I think you're gonna love it. I'd rather have a stacked knob with an actual tone knob, but I went for a more simple/budget fix with the push-pull high cut I did. It works very well. Of course, the bass is fine w/o it too. It's not as if the highs are overbearing--not in the slightest. The bass actually has a rather full-range, balanced sound (which is surprising at first because if it's retro looks). I went for the mod because I was playing a lot of reggae with mine and thought it'd be cool. I could also just as easily rolled off highs down the line somewhere, but y'know...
Thanks mate for your advice.

Just one more question you say you use chromes which ones do you use and which brand and do they do short scale ? I seem to have problems locating these.
Thanks
Chas.
Watch the nut slot size as the Jerry Jones were cut for 100-45 D’Addario nickel wounds. The Chromes will work well tension wise though you may need to tweak the truss rod if it has one(mid 90’s till 2011).
Labella also make a super light flat set for Danelectro though that’ll depend on your touch as to wether they work for you.All the best.
cheers

The Labella low tension flats sound great also. I have a shorthorn and a longhorn. The GHS flats as well as the Brite Flat ground wound strings ( my favorite). The D’Addario rounds settle nicely as well. Enjoy the bass!!

I recently bought one of Kyle's JJ basses - he had 2 - kept the Longhorn and sold me the Singlecut. Really a killer bass now wearing flats and thumping like crazy. I have owned several Dano RI basses and have 2 JJ basses - no comparison; the JJ basses are stellar!

Lovely bass! I want one too.
Does anyone know if they can be bought in Europe?
Not in production anymore as I know..

I imagine there's one or two of them around somewhere. However, I'd warn you that you'll probably be in the same boat I'm in, if you want one in Europe. I want a left handed one; you and I are on more of a quest than a search...
