Difficult to make a slap part interesting.
The majority overplay at a hundred miles an hour and its so 1980's.
So, an updated sound and take on the technique is always a good thing imv considering for a lot of people slap has stood still for 40 odd years.

Sometimes less really is more, reminder for self. A great reminder as I'm back in a small jazz group where I'm expected to play a good number of solos on most songs, I try to have a different concept for each song.
That's how you let it marinate.
Fast and aggressive playing has its place, but it's good to hear something like this for a nice change of pace.
