Hey Justin, what's your take on having your studio at home vs. out-of-the-house? I've had mine in my house for the last 10 years, and while there's nothing technically wrong with the situation, and financially it certainly makes sense, my gut is telling me it's time to move it on out, for a change of environment and a little inspiration kick in the pants (even though it's obviously gonna cost me more). Mine's essentially just a minimal composer-type setup anyway, so I don't have other musicians or clients coming over hardly ever anymore, but still . . . Assuming you've done both, just wondering if you ever ran into inspiration quagmires (like I am) with the damn thing right there all the time!
It's a mixed bag. Distractions vs. more expense. This studio on this thread is now defunct due to the money-grabbing building owners trying to almost triple my lease upon renegotiation. 75% of my gear is in storage while I use other studios, the other 25% is in someone's back house where I have my private studio set up for the summer while I build a new spot at my new house. ANYWAY: long story short is, I generally prefer to have my studio elsewhere. I prefer feeling like i'm "going to work". My last home studio was ok but too distracting. However, now, my studio is very separate from the house in a separate structure, plus it has benefits like a pool and a little basketball half court right by it, so it sounds like it'll be fun to have it there. Plus I'm at a stage where it'll be nice for me and my family.
Hey JMJ, even though the studio from 2015 is now defunct, it's good seeing the ToneWorkstation proto up in the analog pedal mix!

I hear ya. Even with mine in my house (well, built in my garage here where I live in SoCal, totally unpermitted which has always been a bit stress-inducing whenever the city comes poking around...), I have to approach it as if I'm "going to work", business hours, etc. I won't go work in my jammies like I used to when this was all new to me.
