We had these for our side washes yesterday...seemed to be much louder than the Bose system I used to own. Sound company said that they work well for a main system indoors.

K-Array-ever use them?

Holy! That much? Geeze...yes it's the R&D but once that is out of the way there is less materials to make these things. PROFIT!
I'm Ok with the profit motive, no question - and these things might actually be worth the dough to someone. People gig with Fodera's where I carry a Lakland Skyline after all... I would like to see some specs putting the KR402's up against a similar investment in db technologies and see how they stack up. A couple of years from now, if things go well with my sound company, I'll be looking at that kind of investment in heavier duty mains than I have now. It will be interesting to see if these are competitive then... I gotta get some more festivals sold before then though...
yeah, but can you do any kind of apples to apples comparison here?
we have the little k-array at our store (the one that's the size of a bose stick system) and as far as i can tell, the point of the design (like the bose, or the fishman soloamp) is to sacrifice raw SPL right in front ("on-axis") for a considerably wider coverage area.
comparisons bear this out; up against an equivalent regular box like a QSC K12 or something, the QSC is louder when you're lined up in front of it (even at a distance), but the stick fills the room more evenly, and for acoustic solo players it can be set behind the player and offset, serving as a monitor as well as the main.
Ok that makes sense for the little guy. I personally don't dig the concept of pA behind me. As a sideman, I've had my ears burned by a Bose stick too many times. I do get that some folks love 'em.
I saw the larger K - Array stuff as more concert support and there is more where my thoughts came from. Colored no doubt by the kind of applications I tend to support...
So the K array stuff sounds good I take it ? Does it have the feedback busting DSP capabilities of the Bose ?

i could see that, especially if somebody else's stick system were too close to being behind you as well as them.
it does indeed sound really good for (again) smaller acoustic music type gigs where you want coverage rather than volume, clear and full in a way that would be just right for the corner of the bar behind the pinball machine.
i don't think it has any feedback-busting, but it does have a little 4-channel digital mixer built-in, that you access with a laptop via USB or an ipad via wi-fi.
we haven't tried these with the wired laptop yet, but the wireless ipad thing works mostly, apart from being oddly finicky about which ipads it will recognize (ipad 1 yes, ipad 3 no, ipad mini yes).
