No, not at all. I went the distance with the truss rod, and that only yielded a Slight improvement. Touched the nut, and still not overall acceptable to me. First time for me. I have Always been able to coax any guitar I touched into nice action. I'm getting out - and not coming back.

Back to my sweet spot - Guitar Scale Acoustic Basses. Feels like a real guitar, because it is sized like a guitar, plenty of room on the fretboard - without stretching. Super comfortable and fun.

Seems like putting the foam next to the bridge as in the video above, on a Ubass would really kill the sound, since the pickup is under the saddle. I have seen foam by the nut, I think it was on the tuner side, not sure. I use a GruvGear Fretwrap by the nut to try to mute a little.

Yeah, when I want that muted sound on my Journeyman, I mute the strings with the side of my right hand.

But that's just me.

I find that the bass already is primed for that kind of uprightish sound.

Yeah, I understand your point of view. I like it, but I can see how it could turn people off.

The Kala U-basses all have a kind of understated, simple beauty in my opinion. This one kinda looks tricked out.

I just ordered a new set of Kala round wounds. I'm looking forward to seeing how much of a difference in sound these new strings will make. The round wounds on my Journeyman are about six months old...we will see.

I doubt if there will be much difference in sound from 6 mo. old strings to new ones. Unless you play a lot and they're falling apart...

I'm unfortunately - I think - kidding, because I doubt I can afford it. But - I Will be getting a price.

My next little bass is going to be a Glen Burton. Closer to my - cheap - affordability line.
