Kay K162 bass on clearance Amazon

Looks like the black ones are on clearance... few hundred dollars off. I remember trying one of these out and liking it a lot when they first released the reissue series, probably about 8 or 9 years ago.
If I didn't already have my be-all end-all semi hollow bass I would be all over one of these. Alas, there are still several left in stock, so have at em!

On a side-note, the price has gone up! I actually had one in my "cart" yesterday and almost bought it but reasoned myself out of it (thinking of the fact that realistically I only ever want to play my Guild). Anyway, when I came back on here this morning I was convinced that the price had jumped from the $530's into the $540's. Sure enough, now that another has sold, the price is up in the $590's.

I had an original, and it ended up in the hands of a guy involved with the reissues, which I later played, and from my point of view, the RI's, while being ok (but $$$$) were nowhere near as nice..

Put a couple in ur cart and wait. They go up and down in price. Picked mine up for $480 around Christmas. Very unusual sound. Def not a fender. Nice upright tones.

I got a Kay Reissue Jazz Special about a month ago from amazon just like that...was in the warehouse deals, so was taking a chance. Was in the original shipping box, with case, and the original shipping box had never been opened! Cool sounding bass, but at the end of an hour plus set my left arm was sore from holding it up while I was playing. Guitar player loved the old style sound, almost like an upright. We were playing as a guitar, harmonica and bass trio, so I have no idea how it would sit with drums, but it sounded cool in that environment.

This bass is down to $540 now. Great deal if you are looking for a bass with great vintage tone. The case alone is worth a lot.

$518 for the K162 in black! Definitely tempting, but I have to stop buying basses... especially hollowbodies with hardshell cases... there are only so many you can fit in a house

Set a price alert on the black model from Camel Camel Camel. It will dip under $600 at least once a year (I think it happened last month). Great value at that price.
