Is that one of John Hay's tailpiece stickers? Was he the secret helper?

I'm curious about the three piece heel stack. Was that a "necessary evil" repair or factory spec? Anything is possible with an old Kay. I know of a local factory original Kay neck that is twelve (12!!!!!!!) pieces of wood glued together still holding up & functional....

Haha. No, the sticker came from Gollihur! John is a great guy! I have met him once. I knew his brother, Dave(RIP), a little better.

My secret helper on this one was Aaron Reiley, from Guarneri House. Another super guy. Actually I ended up doing the work myself. Aaron did the first bridge for me, but the second bridge, fingerboard, nut were my work. Aaron was a great resource. A very giving man, not unlike yourself.

The original donor neck was stacked. However, I used maple from the original broken neck to build it out. The overstand was super low. Thanks for the comments! I hope all is well in your neck of the woods.

Haha! Nope. It was more of a necessity. It was a broken scroll, and my carving chops are not good.
