Keep my MarkBass or get a Gallien Krueger ????

I currently have the MarkBass 115 Berlin combo and was getting ready to add/order the MB NewYork 115 matching cab to go with it,,,, but then I started looking at the Gallien Krueger MB212 or the GK MB210 with a matching/extension cab,,,,,, one thing swaying towards the GK stuff is its even lighter than the MB stuff.

I play out almost every weekend, small to med size clubs, with and with-out PA support.
BEAD tuned bass's and I use my bottom B alott.
Im in rock and classic rock bands that play fairly loud.

So the choices that are causing me to loose sleep are:

Keep the Markbass 115 Berlin and do a MB combo stack ?
Start over and do a Gallien Krueger MB210 combo stack ?
Or, just go with the single Gallien Krueger MB212 ?

Any feedback/opinions,,,,pros and cons, would be welcome.

Stay with Markbass! Get a combo, separate head, stacks whatever it's by far more versatile and better made. Just my opinion but...

IMO the Markbass 2x15 stack will DEFINITELY get you there.

As mentioned, you have far more flexibility with a combo and an additional cab. Especially if you like the MB sound, stay with it.

Let me get this straight. You could have a 2x15 & would settle for a 2x12? Because it is a few lbs lighter? You're not thinking this through for yourself. Get a hand truck or a rolling cart to load in/out. You're not likely to hear the difference between these 2 amps unless you're in a very quiet room. In a very quiet room who would care?

No matter which way you go, that a nice rig!

I'm with them- get the extra 15 for the sweet 215 set-up. Maybe down the road you could also get a 210. or 212 combo, so you'd have choices, but for sure, go with the 215.

(BTW, I still keep my GK head around and I like it a lot, but my MB is just that much better for me)

I would get the G-K MB212, more versitile IMHO, lighter to carry. Keep the Markbass as you could slave either amp from the preamp you liked best for larger gigs.

I got a GK head and I love it, but I do like the sound of markbass. Never had any problems with the head, but I do believe the markbass has a fuller sound. You will get loads of punch with GK though. Its a tuffy for sure, if your just looking for a change of sound GK will do whatever you, but if your looking to have the same sound with just a lighter rig I wouldn't change brands.

'nother vote for getting a Mark Bass 1x15" cab to add to what U got already. This'd allow the amp to run at 4 ohms-which IMO it sounds best doing, & be a light, well made & great sounding rig. I use 1 x MB HR151 & when I pair that up w/ another 1x15(non MB) its a huge sound. I'd reckon 2 MB 1x15's would be better all 'round

I'd say go to a Guitar Center or somewhere where they sell both amps and A/B them and see what you like. Both amps have their own characteristics. I do own 2 GK heads and a GK BL 115 for a practice amp. I have yet to hear the MB 212 but I have played the Jeff Berlin several times at the GC in my town. I do have a GK MB212 on order from RMC Audio. I thought about the MB JB combo but I think that, for the price, I would get more wattage for the buck with the GK. The GK MB212 seems that it would meet my needs more than the MB combo but those are my needs and I'm sure your needs are different so, again, I say get somewhere to A/B them.

dude, the 212 is LOUD. I don't have an MB but I have a 700RB-II and Neo 212-II & 112-II combo and I wouldn't ever lose it.

I use the Jeff Berlin combo paired with the Standard 151HR. I can't imagine it getting much better, though anything's possible. I won't be experimenting with anything else anytime soon. I use 4's and 5's FWIW. Thunder.
