Seeing all the input on this forum Im surprised no one has created a kelly blue book for basses.
It would be cool having a website to put in the model maker condition and other specs that would calculate the average price paid. I'm sure if everyone on the forum contributed Info and price paid on just a few of their basses each, we would have a pretty accurate website.

Maybe I'm just rambling, food for thought?

There was (probably still is) something out there, that some of the more unscrupulous dealer would use for trade ins. It obviously worked in the dealers favor. The guitar that you'd see 2nd hand on their (the dealer) wall for $500, would be worth $40-50, on trade in,according to their book. A friend had 3 US fenders that he was looking to trade-all sold over a grand new. The local music business offered him $70 a piece. The recently went out of business, go figure!
