It's fine if you don't, but a lot of people do. He's got baggage.

I'm a dedicated Jeopardy fan of many years' standing who has NO interest in watching the show because he's on it and I don't want to watch him. That's probably all you need to know for this thread.

In general, I don't think the guest-hosting thing is necessary, and in some ways it's getting increasingly annoying. Maybe, if Ken had bombed... but he didn't.

Agreed.

Assuming Ken wants the permanent job, just give it to him.

EDIT: I do like the fact that the guest host thing is raising money for various charities...

‘Jeopardy!’ Loses Top Ratings Spot for the First Time Since Alex Trebek’s Final Episodes

“Jeopardy!” ratings dropped another 5% in Katie Couric’s second week as guest host, falling behind “Family Feud” to finish second for the first time since Alex Trebek’s last episodes.

“Jeopardy!” finished with a 5.3 household rating, while “Family Feud” led the week ending March 21 with a 5.4 rating.

Couric was the game show’s first-ever female host. On March 8, she took the baton from “Jeopardy!” executive producer Mike Richards, who himself grabbed it from the game’s legendary champion and current consulting producer Ken Jennings. Next up on the show’s guest-hosting rotation was Dr. Oz, who began his run last week (though many were not pleased he got the gig at all). We’ll know how he stacked up next week.

I liked Ken being the first, made sense to me as he was basically a household name when it came to the show. I get the different hosts until they find a perm one, however I hope they do it soon. I think it's sometimes tacky when finding a replacement for something is overly drawn out...kind of loses creditability and interested...hence the drop in the ratings. Of course they do need to find the right person for the spot too otherwise ratings may continue to plummet. There will never be another Bob Barker for The Prices Right, however Drew Carey gave it his all...well what he called his all. I always thought he half-a**ed it.

I have found every guest host to be more than competent. I'm actually pleasantly surprised by that. I can't fault anyone's favorite. I did see the tv ratings report this morning, and while I don't keep up with such things, it is obvious that Jeopardy ratings are down from when Alex hosted his last shows. That could make sense since more fans may have been supporting those last broadcasts. It could also mean that fans are getting tired of the revolving door of guest hosts. I guess time will tell....

I still maintain the revolving door of guest hosts is a poorly-conceived stunt that's now backfiring on them.

I’m watching it right now with Dr. Oz. If I mentally set aside all his snake oil baggage, he’s actually doing a pretty good job. His voice sounds authoritative. Best of the bunch in that one respect.

Edit: Player Bryce is killing it.

I've always loved the show itself. I love trivia. So I'll continue to watch it (I tape it every day) no matter who ultimately gets the gig.

Of course Alex will be a tough act to follow. But I'm old enough to remember the decade or more that Art Fleming hosted it. IMO, the game is bigger than the host. (That said, some hosts would bother me more than others...) ;)

I figure it appeals either to:

- The inner child that still gets a kick out of cartoony, anthropomorphized letters, or;

- The inner adolescent that still still gets a kick out of the "Jump-Up-YEAH!" freeze-frame at the end of TV shows from the '70s.

I’m surprised too. At first I thought “Whaaaat?” He is a little flat and monotonic but he’s very neutral and I kind of like that. Very interesting approach and it kind of works.
