Did you try the Slicks on your P5? B string?

Sure did. The B is really nice actually. It's a bugger to fit through the bridge/body, but it will go with a little bit of brute force. I had to order a new E and B string though, because both were deader than dead when I got them.

They sounded nice, but I wasn't digging the feel. I'm still stuck on the TIs for my P5.

I was a die hard Ken Smith Customed Balanced Taperwound string user-until I tried a set of Sadowsky Blue Label Stainless Steels (40-125T). They are awesome-great sound and feel!!! Ken Smith strings sounded amazing on my Black Tiger 5 for about 1 and a half to 2 weeks, then died. The first set of Sadowsky's held their tone for 2 months before dying!!! Sadowsky strings are the bomb!!!

I think Ken Smith compressors work really well on a P bass. Smooth, but still bark when you need them to. These have purple silks. I have never dealt with Ken Smith Customer Service, but I have dealt with DR Customer Service and in my experience, they were awesome.

Ken Smith Compressors are great on a P-Bass.
Smooth feel, full tone, with a nice top end.
In between Flats, and Rounds.
Last forever.

I have a P bass w/flats when I want to go in the other direction.

I started w/chromes, moved to TI Jazz Flats. Had the JFs on there for quite a while but wanted to hear what rounds sounded like. Put DR rounds (don't recall which). *really* liked the tone and used them for quite a while but just never got used to sliding on them. Back to TI JFs...missed the round sound, back to rounds...sliding tears the flesh off my fingers....
Researched and got the KS Compressors.
I hated them for the 1st couple days. They tore up my fingers but after a while they got easier to slide around on. They do not do the super bright round sound but they are close.
Bottom line: they are staying, for a while at least
They are a nice compromise.
