Ken Smith with flatwounds?

I've an early 90's Burner which I was thinking of trying flats on.
It's a bit too bright and clangy for what I need at the moment, though I can get around it with eq'ing.

What are your experiences with flatwounds on a Ken Smith? I couldn't find any videos or sound samples.
