Key Punk Rock Bass Amps

The older live pics and video I've seen of Watt with Minutemen in the 80's, there was a lot of Peavey, some Acoustic and GK (a lot more GK with firehose). I'm sure there was probably others in the mix randomly at times too. Minutemen seemed very of the "play what ya got" mindset, what with them jammin econo and all.

I mean I'm not really the arbiter but to me punk was a trendy thing in the 70s and 80s (obviously it continues today) and punk rock was the slightly more sanitised 90s and 00s movement. I think of punk as being a bit more raucous and about the attitude, whereas punk rock is maybe a little more codified? I dunno, I grew up on the 00s during the Blink 182, Sum 41 punk rock hey day. I feel as though Rancid is 'me' and The Buzzcocks are 'my dad'. :)

Machine Gun Kelly stinks. That whole video just reeks of people old enough to be embarrassed about being in it.

How about this, a rig I threw together in a pinch(for the band's first gig)in the early 80's…a Crate 100 watt bass combo with a 15", sitting on top of, and also powering, a Marshall 4x12. The Crate(inexplicably)belonged to the guitarist, while he borrowed/used an HH* 60 watt, single 12" guitar combo that I had. The Marshall was around from intially borrowing it for the keyboard player(on a Vox combo organ) to use.

*A rarity in the US, I found it in a freight salvage/overstock store.

He would also use Cerwin-Vega PA cabs.

I also had a Peavey Mark IV when I started playing in punk bands, along with a 1820 cab that I screwed casters and a towel bar to the back of, because it was a nightmare to move around. The head blew up sometime in the mid 2000's. It held up a long time through a lot of abuse though.

Indeed. I would have posted a good punk rock song but wanted to keep it current. To quote Fat Mike "in 1988 Bad Religion released Suffer and the world changed forever" but that record is older than I am and, for better or for worse, MGK is the punk rock poster child these days.

I still maintain there's a difference though. Suffer isn't the same as Never Mind The Bollocks.
