Anyone ever have to use a keyboard amp, or even prefer it? What are the downsides of doing this? At school I play a MIM P bass through a Peavey KB-300 and it sounds great. Just wondering as it doesn't seem to sacrifice anything....

Keyboard amps?

Shouldn't be a big deal. If it sounds good, then you're all set. Enjoy not having to buy an amp for a while. Some keyboard amps (I just repaired one of this nature) don't have enough preamp gain to achieve full volume with the output signal of a bass. But if you are getting sufficient volume, don't worry about it.
