keyboardist at rehearsal

Hey guys,

A keyboardist from one band I'm in is sitting in with my cover band for a gig and I'm wondering how to get the sound out. We run vocals through a Peavey Bandit 112 (80 watts-ish) and my old Hartke Kickback 120, and when my other guitarist isn't there, his Peavey studio 112.

So I figure 1 to 2 of those amps are going to have to be repurposed for the keys since he doesn't have an amp (never been necessary in a city where your rent practice space, and well, I live on long island).

Should I send him through my trusty lil' hartke? What if I bypassed the speaker of the hartke and sent it to either my Avatar 212 or my Epi 210? Would that damage something?

Or maybe just send him through the balanced in of my LMII? and the other stereo channel to one of the other amps?

For vocals we go into a Behringer Eurorack.

I'm going to close this and repost in amps, I guess that's really the issue.

edit: can you actually do that in here or is that only in the classifieds? Mods, help me out please?

If you absolutely have to use instrument amps, a bass amp will work better overall for keyboards, especially if it has a tweeter. Classic keyboard sounds (like rhodes and organ) might sound great through a guitar amp though.

Invest in a decent powered monitor for the vocals, they will not sound even close to half decent though a guitar amp.

And no, you can't close a thread but you can ask a mod to move it or start a parallel thread in amps. However, I think this might be the best forum for your question.

We have enough trouble pushing vocals, I'm thinking of seeing which bass amp he sounds better through and putting the keys through there. The problem is that the hartke doesn't have a tweeter, so I was thinking of using my avatar as an extension. Is this doable? Depends on whether the Hartke supports an extension speaker and the ohm requirements match your speaker. The Hartke manual should tell you. Provided it does, and ohms are compatible, it should work great.

Ok, found the manual online, apparently I can connect it to any 8ohm cab, so I'll just send him through the hartke into my avatar 212 and I'll stick with the LMII-Epi210 combo. Thanks guys
