Kid size bass

Not sure where this fits in any forum or if it's already been covered somewhere, so I'm just throwing it out for comments. Please steer me to the appropriate forum/venue.
My 11 year old grandson has some interest in bass. So I'm looking for a 3/4 or similar size bass for him (he's not a real big kid yet). Lots of cheap import basses on the usual bid/retail websites, but they all look sketchy. Is there any quality to them for a C note, or do I need to step up to get reasonable quality? And what would that be? I don't want him to get discouraged with a bad playing guitar. Any info/recommendations/etc. would be appreciated. Thanks for your thoughts. Regards

Ibanez Mikro. 28.5 inch scale, decent quality. Used to see them used for around a hundred, but prices are going up. I’ve never owned one but I’ve played a couple at GC. They generally get good marks here on TB.

Samick also do a SS 30" bass that's really nice. I prefer both of my s/h one's over the new Fender Jaguar I bought. Both well made and solid, stable, easy to set up and I didn't pay $US100ea for them in mint condition.

The one with the PG is a Greg Bennett CR13 and believe it or not, the smaller bodied one is heavier.

Second the Ibanez Micro. I bought a used one for myself just because. Then gave it to my niece when she showed interest. Really perfect for kids. Short scale and tight string spacing.

Might I recommend the Squier Mini P?

Same scale (28.5") as the Mikro, and it sounds like a P.

If you can find one,the jay turser jtb-40 is 30". Great bang for your buck, I use one as my main bass
