Kid wants a Maltese

$1500+ for a dog with no health history on parents listed and their "guarantee" does not guarantee almost anything health wise for the dog except that they will give you credit towards another dog.

They look at dogs like a commodity and that is a big red flag. Reputable breeders do not treat their dogs like merchandise.

IMHO do you intend to take care of the dog when your daugter gets bored with it? If you are ready for commitment for next 10-15 years than get a dog. If you expect a kid to take care of it, please refrain from obtaining a dog, that decision is maybe harsh but in a long run it's better for your family and the dog you would have bought then returned/left at shelter/forwarded to a family member/ etc...

100 dogs and none of them were acceptable?

I agree with this man.

I have had dogs all my live so yeah I am committed to taking care of it. So I know the drill about kids and pets my daughter is 17 by the way a young adult not a child and is a pet lover.
I have checked pet finder and have connection to local shelters here in NJ. even have the invite to Petco for the Nov 18th Thanks for Giving event here in NJ.since I am employed by the top Pet product manf. who has been making pet products since 1945.
I am looking for a reputable breeder of Maltese in my area because we want to get a full breed Maltese so if you have a name throw it at me. thanks RTS

Maybe one of these?

And yeah, rescue is the way to go. There are breed-specific rescue orgs - there is probably one for Maltese in your region.
Or if you DO buy from a breeder - find a reputable breeder. Find several breeders and ask lots of questions, including "if I didn't buy from you, who locally would you recommend?" You learn a lot that way.

But - buying from a breeder will cost you non-trivial bucks, an investment that will not increase the amount of love you have for or get from your dog.
