Update : I survived the surgery. Doc was going to do bilateral Percutaneous nephrolithotomy (two incisions ) but aborted PCNL on the kidney on my left side due to concerns about blood loss.
Have one more procedure to get a stone out of my left kidney called cytoscopy with laser lithotripsy. Get to go home same day.
Anyhow, post op wasn't bad. They only gave me the narco pain med right before I woke up. They kept asking but I declined. Finally they talked me into taking tylenol.
They removed the catheter and tube in my kidney out around 24 hours after surgery.
So today is day 8. Followed instructions on the 6 meds they sent me home with. Incision is healing well. Only light pain on my right side when I urinate. I've checked for fever every couple of hours since I'm back home. All good.
The stent I feared would make me miserable isn't a big deal. I honestly can't tell it's there. After the next procedure there will be a string for me to pull it out at home after three days.
Not looking forward to that
