killswitch?

it's good practice to put a small capacitor between the switch and the ground to avoid the 'pop' sound when you hit the switch.

when i did this in '04, i used a resistor instead of the capacitor, which seemed to work the same.

that way when you're switched 'off', then the amp still sees a resistance rather than a short. i don't think it will cause any issues with the short, but you're more likely to get the 'pop'.

here's my thread:

No!
A capacitor is only going to make the pop worse. Use a resistor.

i've never noticed any popping with a proper shorting kill-switch, even on high-gain guitars. why add tone-robbing resistors when it's not necessary?

Consider yourself lucky. One of my basses pops very loudly, while the other is virtually unnoticeable.

The resistors aren't doing anything to the circuit until you flip the switch - and then they just help to slow down the rapid discharge of electrons.

Here is mine. Thanks for the help Line6Man. It was WAY easy. I took the Squier VM pots out and put CTS solid barrel and 50's style barrel knobs on it at the same time.

About 2 hours, a soldering gun, and a dremel. The CTS made a massive difference in low end width.

Has anyone ever riged up a bass to have a button that completly cuts the power from the bass to the amp.
I'm having a buddi of mine install one in my nikki sixx epiphone bass I think its will be neat becouse the only
knob with the deep sixx pickups is to toggle between the pickups.just wondering if anyone else put a killswitch
in any of there basses and what their experiences were..

Um that switch on the epi blackbird is a killswitch...why would you want a button doing exactly the same thing as that?
