KISS going micro???

A pic from a KISS show last night. Notice the wall of white cabs is gone and replaced with a handful of smaller amps. Weird. KISS downsizing their backline has to be a sure sign of the coming Apocalypse, no?

An easy mistake to make.
It's all about proportion.
That is the standard backline although their egos have forced them to quadruple in size.

This isn't the first time they have used a stage where the amount of cabs was less than expected. Not a big deal since everything is going through a PA anyway.

To be fair, Entwistle did use a rig so large that it literally worked without PA support in football stadiums.
But the OX died nearly bankrupt and deaf in a hotel room with a hooker, and Gene has a fleet of private gold sex jets and lives with an ex Playboy centerfold.
Which is supposed to be the bad one?

That is just offensive.

OX - bassist of the century

Simmons - (fake) bad boy hero to 14 year olds (and for 14 year olds that never grew up)

You got your kiss casket yet? :rollno:

I will not have any Gene or KISS-trashing in my thread. If you don't like KISS, either keep it to yourself or move on. I am a fan of KISS. I'd rather see Ace and Peter back in the band, but I get that Peter doesn't get along with Paul and Gene, and Ace is a flake, so whatever. If that troubles you that I like KISS, go tell it to the Marines.

Ha! I knew someone would cry sacrilege; here's some truth: I'm old enough to have as my most influential bassists John Entwistle AND Gene Simmons. AND when I met John Entwistle I thought he used WAAAY too much cologne. So there, Mr. Grumpypants. :p

I have to admit, Phil Lynnot and Gene are the reason I decided to start playing bass. Still devoted to Thin Lizzy but seem to have outgrown KISS.
I will always be thankful for all of the thousands of hours of enjoyment that KISS provided.

So what the heck are those amps anyway? It kind of looks like Gene's using an SVT with a 410 turned inwards, but I really can't make it out. And I don't ever recall seeing those types of guitar amps before.

EDIT: Found 'em. Hughes and Kettner Tommy Thayer Signature Duotone amps.

We saw Kiss and Motley Crue last summer, and there was nary an amp on stage. They both had great stage shows though (Crue dancers and such, Kiss a giant jumbotron).

And yes, it was an awesome show :hyper:. I never used to be a big Kiss fan, but after I saw them live for the first time a few years ago, I like 'em fine now. They will put their name on anything to try and sell you though...

An all-time classic movie!

To this day, when my wife and I are at a chinese restaurant and we see those baby corns in the chow mein, we always call those the Tom Hanks corns. Plus, there is a Zoltar machine at South Lake Tahoe, and whenever my wife and I go there, we always take a pic of us standing next to it.

As for the smaller amps on the KISS stage, I am loving the humorous posts in this thread! Keep them coming! Here's my offering:

The roadies went on strike and KISS heard that they themselves would have to schlep their own gear. This is the result.
