Kiwi Your Neck?

Has anyone used Kiwi on their bass?

How did it turn out?

If so - I have used it to spit-shine a ding on my Ibanez AEB10 in black.

It fills the dent and does it in black. It builds nicely over a day or so of application every once in a while and really made the ding disappear.

On Tolex, it works very good too.

If you're talkin' about kiwi as in the fruit. I bet you're onto something new here.

I really cant imagine shoe polish doing anything other then wearing off easy to include on you and any clothes rubbing up against. The fruit version would just make for sticky mess. And if you dont peel the kiwi well, sticky mess with little kiwi hairs all over to. Lol.

Yes. Neutral non colored wax works wonderfully on 'unfinished' necks like the one on my Dingwall afterburner 1, an was originally suggested by the builder.

Brown kiwi will also darken finished necks to a vintage amber and many have done that too (something that has been talked about at length on the TDPRI).

I've used Kiwi brown shoe polish numerous times on overly "white" maple necks that have a finish already applied. The shoe polish stains the finish darker giving it a "warmer" look.

IME, after the initial application, removal of excess, and rubout, it doesn't rub off any more than the original finish.

Around 1978, purchased a Carl Thompson fretless, think was from Sam Ash in Long Island, had a shoe-polish finish, was told that was all he was using. Held up well.
