Double Bass KlangzauberStab sound wand

I‘ve got one, I really like it. My bass sounds more balanced with this soundpost, arco response has improved. Though magic is a part of the name, I wouldn’t call it magic improvements. My wife’s cello sounds great with the cello version as well.

they‘ve been cooperating with luthiers from abroad to tell them how to install it. There is a video on YouTube which shows the installation.

I have the Klangzauberstab in one of my basses. I don't know, if it sounds better than a normal soundpost, but the adjustability is wonderful. It is by far the easiest and most effective way, to adjust the sound and response of the bass to different string tensions, climate and personal taste. And it is a much better value than other adjustable soundposts. I highly recommend it!

It is a not very subtle knock off of the
Anima Nova

Which is the one Gage sells, and also the one sold at many top shops around the USA and worldwide. The inventor poured his retirement years into developing and marketing the product and probably never broke even. The KlangzauberStab is much cheaper, but I wouldn't feel very good about owning one.

Not only is it less expensive, but the design seem simpler -- no?
Also, why would you not feel good about owning one?
Hi Mark, I guess it depends on how you define "simple". The solution for the height-adjustability of Anima Nova is patented. So, the other products have to be different from that. So, the manufacturer of this product ordered an Anima Nova back in October 2017 and came out with his version in 2018. When I look at the drawings of this model, "simple" is not the word that comes to my mind. But that's just my opinion.

As far as I know both the Anima Nova as well as the Klangzauberstab are patent registered. The Klangzauberstab is a simpler construction and is very lightweight in opposite to the Anima Nova. I own a Klangzauberstab and I´m very happy with what it does.
Hi Matthias,
1. Anima Nova is not only patent registered, the patent has been granted on 26 March 2015. I have done a quick research and found that the "inventor" of the product in question has filed a patent in Feburary 2019 and that the patent has not been granted yet.
2. Regarding the simplicity of the construction, please read my post above. Maybe you could elaborate why you came to that conclusion. I'd be interested to hear, if you ever had an Anima Nova in your hand as a comparison?
3. Anima Nova is heavier since the other product is a hollow tube, while our product is a massive rod. However, I believe that one of the reason's why we get so much positive feedback from our clients is due to the increased mass. If you would like to listen to a recording with Anima Nova, kindly watch Joel Quarrington's video on youtube. He plays Bach's Cello Suite No.6 on his 1609 Giovanni Paolo Maggini bass with Anima Nova inside.
