Kolstein's 101 pick-up for bass

I like to have information about the vintage pick-up: Kolstein's 101 manufactured in W.-Germany by Shadow

I had one. I got it because a bassist I really admired had one and I liked his sound. It goes between the bridge and the top. One end down, the other up. Like the Polytone you fit it to your bass by twisting the threaded part. I couldn't get it to sound good with any decent volume on my bass.

The one of the many issues with the Polytone was they were too big to fit inside the arch of smaller bridges. The Kolstine mounts the same way the Vektor (Germany) pickup did. Kolstine was always appeared to be “advocating” products that were their own their proprietary brands ( I.e. Kolstine Strings, Kolstine Rosin, the Planet Wing Pickup, etc) Imdon’t think that pickups were their particular forte. That saibefore the Underwood, Realist and Full Circle it was like the Wild West out there. It still is to some extent.
